Meet Your Athletic Trainer: Megan Swartz
Hello Buchanan Families,
We would like to make you aware of the athletic training services provided by Corewell Health-South. Athletic trainers work with athletes at high schools and colleges throughout Berrien County. As part of the Sports Medicine team, athletic trainers cover practices and games, providing triage for common injuries, such as sprains, strains, and bruises; assessing concussions; monitoring weather conditions to prevent heat illness; as well as working to prevent injuries by taping, bracing and conditioning. Often, the athletic trainers are the first health care provider to assess an injury and the last professional to clear an athlete to play again.
Megan Swartz is the athletic trainer for Buchanan High School. Megan is originally from the Grand Rapids area and earned her bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University. She then spent 8 years as the athletic trainer at a school in Washington state before returning back to Michigan in 2022. She spent last school year floating around to different schools in the area as well as covering Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School in St. Joe. She is a certified and licensed athletic trainer in the state of Michigan.
In her free time she enjoys going to the beach with her husband and two young children, DIY home projects, and being outside.
She looks forward to becoming part of the Buck community!
If you have questions or concerns throughout the season, or would like to know the next time Megan will be at the school, you can email her directly at megan.swartz@corewellhealth.
